Easter 2012

Easter spells out beauty, the rare beauty of new life. ~S.D. Gordon

We were away for a few days over Easter at my parents. The weather was perfect, warm and not too windy. The kids and their cousins enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, chocolates and had lots of fun together. Also nice to see my brother Steve who we don't see too much of.

I have a number of photos of the kids, but this one of an Easter lily kind of struck me as my favourite right now.

Sunday update

We had a full weekend. Sophie's school had a family movie night on Friday, so we went there with our blanket and lawn chairs and watched Puss in Boots in the gymnasium. On Saturday she was off to EnergyPlex in Kelowna for a birthday party. Today we kept things nice and low key and took the kids on a little hike through Coyote Park
. It was pretty and lush, but still quite muddy from the spring thaw. Fynn was a little decorator today as he arranged my Easter decorations.

Happy Easter!

The cousins had their annual Easter egg hunt outside at Grandma's today in Oliver.
Here they are in a collage of Easter egg hunts through the years. In 2008, Fynn and Jackson were too young to participate, so they were not in the photo.

feeling like spring

Another Monday. One of those days when we fell back into our regular routines.
I am a big believer in routines because you can get so much done when you keep up consistent, regular schedules:

- Sophie was back to school today and back to her routine. We did her daily reader tonight and when her friend Maggie came over for a bit after dinner, I set the two of them down to practice Sophie's french dictee words.

- Fynn seemed to have a good day. One of his caretakers commented how the children love Fynn and he is a gentle soul. That made me feel really good because Vic and I were a little worried that since he was starting to hit/pinch Sophie maybe he was picking that up at daycare. Likely he is just doing it because the two of them get on each other's nerves sometimes.

- I am back to a semi-regular routine running with Vic. It feels so good to keep at it. It is the best way to keep my fitness and weight in check. There are so many hills in Salmon Arm it is hard to avoid them.

- Easter is around the corner. I have just a few little decorations but the kids enjoy seeing them when I pull them out.

- Our tulips are up!

Easter 2010

Here are the Easter egg gathers.

Windy, a bit cold, and Sophie's light sensitivity was hurting her eyes.

I over adjusted my Exposure compensation, so a few too many highlights in the photo.

Easter = fun + family

We drove down to my parent's place for Easter weekend (yah, 4 day long weekends).

Easter morning began bright and early about 6:50am. Travis and Sophie found a few eggs that were scrattered around the living room to keep them busy for a little while. Then it was on to receiving their little pails that contained some spring clothes, gardening seeds, bubbles, books and a toy (I scored on a Schleich sale a few weeks ago).

Later, Vic and I took Sophie and Fynn down to Osoyoos for lunch at Smittys. We then headed back to mom and dad's for an outdoor Easter egg hunt. Cousin Jackson, Scott, Joanne, Joy and Scott (her Scott) joined us. Then Vic's mom came for turkey dinner. It was a nice very full day!

Hoppy Easter

We had a little fun tonight after dinner.

Sophie and her traditional ears.

Fynn grinning like a goof.

We then headed outside for some fun. Nice to be in a cul-de-sac.

Off to make some bunny sugar cookies for daycare tomorrow.

Happy Easter!
