Reluctant to take a risk

I entered about 6 photos in the Salmon Arm Fall Fair. I had no idea what to expect. What the competition would be like, how many entries, how hard the judging would be. I came away with a new found appreciation for the number of entries that make up the photography division at the Fair. It is is the 1,000s. While I didn't win anything, I am proud of myself for showing up, giving it a shot.

To follow up on that, I decided I would take another risk (for me) and go out to the Shuswap Photo Arts Club last night. I really debated if I should go for at least 2 days. I always thought you had to be a "really good" photographer to go there. But turns out, they have a full range of people, cameras, abilities and style. It turned out to be a really nice event. I hope to go back once we return from Chicago -- maybe with a few of my own photos to share with the group.

It's hard to take risks.
I agree.
But I like to tell myself, if I don't try I will never know.

1000's of entries...wow! I think it's great that you went for it.
