And so it continues....

Taken from my Facebook post tonight (with some additions): To the doctor in Vernon who suggested chicken soup and "cuddling under a blanket" with Vic on Sunday (in response to my fever/sickness symptoms), to the doctor this afternoon in Salmon Arm who failed to fax my prescription into the pharmacy that closes at 8pm after repeated phone calls, including one from the ER, you should be ashamed of yourselves. To the young female medical student who urged me to get a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia, thank you. You did a thorough job and didn't take short cuts. Turns out I have pneumonia (like Vic who is in the hospital). I am finally getting the care I need now. How many days later? How many return visits. Waiting in an ER for over an hour because a doctor fails to send in a prescription. Health crisis. Hmmm. When the triage nurse admitted me tonight to ER, I said "look I just need a prescription. I have pneumonia -- just like my husband, who has been here for 4 days. I had a chest xray today. I have pneumonia!" I then started crying, because you know what? I felt bloody sick and I have two little kids hanging off my arms, a husband in the hospital and I am waiting around for a prescription that is likely medical school 101 stuff. The nurse was good, but then more of a wait ensued. She tried to track down the doctor who promised to send in my prescription. He wasn't answering his cell. Fortunately they said they could admit me, give me an interim (2 pills) of medication so I could start to heal and get some sleep. After getting the pills, Sophie,Fynn and I are at home now. I am resting. If Vic or I ran our respective businesses this way...well, we just wouldn't. I can only hope for some sunshine tomorrow.
