learning how to simplify

I learned a lot over the past 6 years about kids' birthday parties. For Sophie's 3rd birthday, she invited at least 8 kids. In turn, she was then invited to 8+ birthdays for the next several years. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it began to overtake us (or I felt it did anyways). She was at a birthday last weekend, and is going to another one this weekend. All is good, but with Fynn, I think it needs to be a little different.

Fynn turns 3 next months and he is inviting one special friend, Caleb over to our house for a playdate the Sunday before his birthday. Simple, low key, a little cake and hot dogs for the boys. Here he is decorating Caleb's handmade invitation (again very simple).

Simple parties rock! :) I love simple kid parties where they play and have fun.
