H20

We had a blast of water fun today!
We took a drive down to Kelowna and went here. It's a very fun place -- highly recommended if you have kids (of all ages). For $19 (family rate) we thought it was also affordable.

the sweet smells of summer

It is really starting to feel like summer here.
Highs in the 30s, swimming in the pool, and the smell of Coppertone on my babies,

"A pool is, for many of us in the West, a symbol not of affluence but of order, of control over the uncontrollable. A pool is water, made available and useful, and is, as such, infinitely soothing to the western eye.” Joan Didion, American jounalist and novelist.

the first swim

We opened up our pool this week.
Sophie couldn't wait to get in today, so her and dad jumped in.
Fynn and I watched on the sidelines as he has a cold that has been a bit rough on him.

birks

A store in our town sent out a flyer advertising Birkenstocks and a $10 off coupon.
I have been looking for a good pair of summer sandals. These babies are now mine. My first pair of Birks - and they do live up to their reputation of being very comfortable. I also have some foot issues so I think they are worth it.

A week in review...

We had Grandma Hamilton visiting for most of the week.
She went on to visit some more family in Kamloops yesterday. Nice to see her and have her spend some more time in our lives.

Today Sophie had the Ready, Set, Learn a program that is tied into pre-Kindergarten. It was a fun chance for her to go to her new school, meet some kids and do a few age appropriate activities. She also got a cool box full of goodies for learning...magnetic letters (upper and lower case) pencil, Playdough, a book, etc.

TGIF!

grandma H

We've have a guest at our house this week - Grandma Hamilton.

It's neat seeing Sophie and Fynn interact just a little bit differently with Grandma here.

On a different note, here is a photo of some of the family on the May long weekend. Little Fynn was so tired!

the joys of doing much too much

Ah Wednesday. We've made it half way through the week.
I feel like we are going at a crazy speed as usual, but it's all good.

I went to a meeting for this group tonight. They are a core group of parents and teachers (plus 2 school administrators) who are committed to French Immersion in the public school system. I'm their new secretary :)

I guess that is what happens when you're the only parent from the Kindergarten French set of parents who shows up!

I like to be busy, but I'm ready for some downtime. Looking forward to the weekend.

Happy Mother`s Day

We got back from Victoria on Friday evening, and it`s been a busy couple of days.

Saturday:
9am - Sophie`s soccer practice. They had their photos taken with their Wendy`s shirts on.

10am - work bee at the Daycare.

11am - mid afternoon - we did clean up around our yard, planting, etcc

It was also Vic`s birthday, so I managed to get a babysitter (our regular one was busy) but Dory, who Sophie`s loves was able to come over.

Vic and I had a nice dinner out here.

Today Vic planted a bunch of annuals and then we headed down to Vernon to pick up our Disney photos.

Here we are in front of our house and a photo of the little area at the side of our house that has the annuals Vic planted today. Happy Mother`s Day!

Year end recital

It was Sophie's year end dance recital today.

A performance at 2pm and another one at 6pm.

She also had soccer practice at 9am, so it's been a busy day. Vic borrowed a roto-tiller and he's been working away at our potential garden area.

The theme of the recital is Dance through the Ages. Sophie's group did a tribal dance. It was very fun with all of the little girls dressed in animal print body suits and little skirts, plus a scarf for their hair.
