Good things:
- over 72 hours post amnio (no complications so far, but i still look for blood in the undies or some big gush of fluid each time i go to the bathroom...just a crazy pregnant lady). it is an unsettling procedure, but i know that it is the only test that will give me the peace of mind i need.
- going out for dinner with vic and sophie tonight
- a great consultant / friend was at my worksite today helping me with some HR stuff
- had lunch with vic today at the german deli (yummy german potato salad)

48 hours post-amnio
so, we got back from Vancover yesterday. here's the recap of our visit to BC Women's Hospital:
8:45am I checked into registration
9:00am Had a detailed ultrasound by a very good technician who was kind enough to tell me each step/each view she was looking at. The scan was normal.
10:30am Met with a genetic counsellor. It was a fairly short visit since the scan was normal. He was very personable and we just answered some questions about our family history.
break for a walk/lunch
12:45pm. Check back in and meet with a nurse to sign consent forms for amnio. A bit scary. Yes, I know the risks thank you (.5% chance of miscarriage).
1:15pm. Amnio procedure. A great nurse, u/s tech and a very kind doctor. It did pinch (okay hurt a bit). But I'm okay and I seem to be fine 48 hours post amnio.
The results will be here in about 2 weeks. Hoping and praying for good news.

an update
I'm now at 16 weeks of pregnancy.
This has been a tough go.
First a bladder infection, followed by morning/afternoon/evening sickness and then the stress and worry that leads up to the genetic testing that some ladies of my "advanced age" choose to get.
I'm going down to Vancouver next week for my amnio. I've had one before (with Sophie) and it was fine. I'm focusing on relaxing and just letting go. We are also staying at the lovely Granville Island Hotel while we are down there, so that will be a nice respite.
I'll give you an update next week or so.
