cranky little red riding hood

i think the combination of a full, busy day plus a bit of a cold got to sophie.
not the happiest camper when i picked her up from daycare at 4pm to hit our downtown streets and visit merchants handing out candy.

we went to daddy's office and a mini-meltdown errupted.

back at home we trick or treated our way to a few houses on our street and then called it a night.

right now she's singing her the tub. happy.

(before we wrap up halloween completely, check out this cute cupcake...maybe next year).

- we have this great little bookstore in town. sophie loves this that we picked up last night while milling about.
the book is creative and whimsical - just like charlie and lola

- finished book for book club

- worked on some finishing touches on our condo at silver star. we have 2 rentals over Christmas. it's looking lovely.

yum oatmeal bars

had a good day at work - considering it was Monday and all.
after the gym, we had a nice dinner which was followed by a phone call to Grandma
and then a story for sophie.

vic and i actually baked tonight. first time in months.

made this recipe from canadian family.
it's in the oven now smelling yummy!

wee felt people

now that sophie's halloween costume is sewn up, i feel like i need something to
fiddle with at night.

this book sounds good and fun too.

(not that i'm giving up scrapbooking or anything).

pumpkin sachets

found these today

very appropriate for this time of year, don't you think?

gardening girl

we have a plant in our ensuite that used to be thriving, but lately
it's leaves have been looking yellowish and each day that i walk past it
i think i should do something (like water it?).

enter sophie. when i told her we needed to water our poor little plant
she wanted to do the honours. 2 glasses of water later it seems to be
doing okay.

out of print, beautifully covered books.

i'm reading a Harlequin

i have a stigma attached to Harlequins.
but, when i saw this book at the newstand today it kind of spoke to me (plus it seemed super easy to read - a break from book club material).

a cute couple

this is my youngest brother scott (he's 29) and his wife Joanne.
and their two doggies.

they are a cute (and very sweet) couple.

that's me, trying to be artsy and having them stand in front of a rusty old container at the Fruit Co-op in Oliver.

accomplishments

we had a full weekend.
naturally, we had the turkey and all the trimmings (yum) at my parents place.
but vic did this:

and he did VERY well (1 hour 47 minutes) on the half marathon

and i sewed this for sophie's halloween costume

she's going as Little Red Riding Hood. hoping she doesn't get spooked out by the story :(

(that isn't my ebay...i just couldn't find the pattern on Butterick's site)

packaging

Sophie and I were wandering around Zellers tonight (Canadian dept store).
I'd like to think it is kind of like Target, but i know it SO isn't.
Anyway, it will do.

Oodles of Halloween stuff. I ended up buying one little plant stick that has a pumpkin face on it (for my office plant).

It made me wonder what kind of memories Sophie will have of Halloween from the consumer perspective.

For instance, do you remember these bags? Funny how this stuff brings back nice memories. I guess consumerism can't be all bad.

10 for Tuesday

Liked Elizabeth's idea for a "10" list for today:

1. I'm going to "boot camp" fitness class after work today.
2. Vic and I had coffee together for the second day in a row during the work day (yeah!)
3. I like this from the GAP:

4. I'm about 75% completed by 2007 HR Operating Plan (double yeah)!
5. Did I tell you I really like the fall?
6. My 15 Starbucks gift cards arrived today for our staff recognition program.
7. Sophie and I are going to Zellers tonight to buy some big girl underpants (Dora of course).
8. Canadian Thanksgiving is almost here!
9. The trees in our yard are turning the beautiful colours of fall.
10. That's all I can think of :)

i'm weird

I've been tagged by Susie.

4 reasons why I'm weird:

1. I always double check to see if i've turned the iron off (even though i know it is) - my OCD'ish tendancies

2. I eat a mini tin of tuna fish almost everyday for lunch at work. has to be Spicy Peanut Satay. I am probably loading my body up with mercury.

3. I straighten the pillows on the couch everynight. Patterned ones go at each end, solid red in the middle.

4. I stand in the exact same spot everytime i'm in my group fitness class. look out if you take my spot:)

vintage Halloween

I love the fall.
My birthday is in fall.
I like the weather MUCH better than summer's heat.
Thanksgiving is the best long weekend.
The garden doesn't require as much upkeep.
And I get to enjoy finds like these:

just plain cute

Gotta love some of the craft blogs out there. Like this one:

Sophie's playing on the deck while daddy relaxes, and i'm in the office having some
'mom' time.

Nice.
