Indian Summer

I'm not sure if this qualifies as an Indian Summer, but it was in the mid-20s today.
Warm and beautiful. Apparently we are in for some rain tonight (I can see the wind is kicking up), but for now it's nice.

Vic had some work to do at the office this morning, so I took Sophie to my fitness class. I half expected to be leaving about 10 minutes into it, but she hung on until the very end. I'm so proud of the little girl she is becoming.

A trip quick to Kelowna followed - Vic and I both needed new fall shoes for work.
We hit Soft Moc and were successful.www.softmoc.com

Paul Simon

We went to the Orpheum in Vancouver last night and saw Paul Simon in concert.
Wow, he was amazing...and the guy is 65! Quite a voice and a musician.

I also convinced Vic to drive me over to Main Street and check out this store:

a very cool store. especially if you are into fonts :0)

Real Simple

We have a fabulous magazine store just up the alley from where I work.
Usually a couple of times a week, I stop in to see what's in.

I picked up one of my favs today:
http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/homepage/flash/0,23022,,00.shtml

I devour it --- usually during my lunch, and then on breaks...and then later while Vic and I are eating desert after Sophie has gone to bed.

layout

I came home at lunch yesterday and dragged out my sewing machine.
I wanted to do a bit of machine stitching on this layout.

It's my attempt at a more freestyle approach.

saturday

it's been a busy saturday for us:
- off to the gym for me for 9:15 aerobics (vic cycled downstairs at home)
- back home and off to the playground for some fun time with sophie
- back home to clean up and then off to grab some lunch at Tim Horton's

I just put sophie down for a nap because i have to leave her with our sitter Irene for a few hours this afternoon while I'm at a management planning session for work. i don't enjoy working Saturdays, and thankfully it doesn't happen very often.

here we are before we headed out this morning:

(oh, and sophie has a case of Impetigo). staph infection that is common in toddlers.
she's on antiobiotics and it seems to be responding well.

i likey

I just found this on the Room & Board website.
Hmmm....might be whimsical enough for miss Sophie.
She will be going into a big girl bed after Christmas after all.

she did it!

So, last night just before we went out to dinner with my brother who is in town, I sat down with Sophie again to watch Elmo. "Again, mommy, again." She loves to watch Elmo and his potty adventures.

We get home from dinner and Sophie immediately walks towards the bathroom telling me that she is going to go potty. I've seen this a dozen times before where she will sit down on the potty but nothing will happen. Tonight however I hear it. Pee. Sophie is going pee on the potty. And not just a dribble. A whole lot.

We dance, sing and tell her how proud we are of her. She gets a Hersey's chocolate kiss from the little bag of kisses I have hanging just above her potty. She is thrilled. I'm thrilled.

Elmo

Elmo's Potty Time website may be the answer.
Maybe.
We watched it for a good 20 minutes tonight.
Sophie was spell-bound.
Elmo is extremely good at identifying when he needs to go potty.
Hoping it will rub off on Sophie. Hoping.

Trying again

I'm back at trying the blog thing again. Promise to try and keep it up this time.

So, what do you do when you have 4 killer productive tomato plants that just don't quit?
Make Salsa. Vic and I tried our hand at canning this Sunday. Rather satisfying hearing that little "pop" when jars seal. We were a little nervous since our canning experiencing is rather limited (almost non existent).

It is yummy if we do say so ourselves.
